translating "Cycle"

Rimas Kudelis-2
Hi,

While translating trunk, one of my first problems that came out is a
word "Cycle" in dom/chrome/accessibility/*/accessible.properties . What
is its meaning, i.e., what does it do?

Re: translating "Cycle"

David Bolter
Hi Rimas,

XUL has a notion of a cycler, which is an element that can have many
different values such as "high, medium, low", making it different than a
typical checkbox. In function, it is more like an html select
(combobox), but the way the user interacts with it is more checkbox-like.

I think Cycle is used here as a verb meaning to change to the next value
among the values, e.g. if 'high', the next value might be 'medium'.

Please let me know if you need further clarification.

cheers,
David

As far as I can tell [1], it means to switch to the next state (i.e. a
tickbox "cycles" to the next state).

[1] I tracked it down like this:
   Go to mxr [2]
Click on "CVS Blame", which brings me to [3], and then to [4]

Thanks David and Mark. The meaning of "Cycle" is much clearer for me now.
