install.js is working in xp but not in vista

diwakar09
Hi,

I am very new to this stuff,
My install.js file has only code

err = initInstall("plugin FF", "plugin FF", "5.0.0.0");
err = execute("abc.exe", "", true);
if(!err)
{
err = performInstall();
}

this install.js file calls a exe and rest of the installation is done by exe

the main thing is that this whole setup is working fine in xp but it shows an error "unexpected installation error" in vista.
I searched a lot but could not find any thing.
Could any one suggest me why this is happening,
If this is not the right place to post, Please tell me the link

See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352762 and
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401624

install.js installs are known to be broken on Windows Vista and will not be
fixed. We have removed support for install.js in Firefox 3.

But install.js still works on OSX and *nix doesn't it? So why remove it
from Firefox on those platforms?
