displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

Tyler St. John
I've come to a wall in terms of developing an xforms atom
editor/reader.  I'm trying to displaying xhtml/html content coming
from at atom feed.  Most specifically atom:content.  Currently, from
what I hear there is a mediatype="text/html" attribute in XForms 1.1,
but not in the current.

I'd like to have this functionality in my reader:

<xforms:output ref="/atom:feed/atom:entry/atom:content" mediatype="text/html" />

I don't know much about XBL nor javascript so I can't write my own
HtmlSerializer.

What the best and easiest way to do this with the current XForms
implementation, and not having to use any 3rd party applications like
Orbeon?

Thanks

Re: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

Steve Speicher
You can do this today in trunk builds of Firefox.  This feature will be in
the next Mozilla XForms release as well.

See bug for Firefox 2.x https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376931

Re: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

Tyler St. John
Steve,

Can I just declare the mediatype attrbute using the new build or do I
need to bind xforms-html.xml as well?  If so, how do I do that?

Re: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

Steve Speicher
Tyler,

With the new trunk build it should just work as in this test case:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=232362

I verified this on my 4/09 trunk.  There shouldn't be anything else you need
to do.

Hi Steve and Tyler,

I put the huge sync patch on the 1.8 branch, so the next 1.8 nightly
should have it too (not sure if today's nightly got pulled before or
after I did the checkin).

IIRC we do not support 'text/html' or 'text/xml' mediatype for
xforms:output. We have similar bug for this
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316817).

RE: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

Klotz, Leigh
I wrote the obvious code for this for use in xmlmail mail reader, but found that it really needs a "tidy" step.
There appears to be a tidy extension available, but I don't think it has an API.  It would be an interesting project to hook the two together.
Also, some configurable XSS protection would be nice as well.  That I may have an answer too soon.

Leigh.

Re: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

So xforms-xhtml will output escaped characters to xhtml, but what
about the other way around.  I tried wrapping the atom:content in
CDATA but the browser doesn't like that.

Any recommendations on what to do here?

Fwd: displaying html/xhtml content from atom:content

I sent the below email to you back in April, do you have any ideas on
how I can approach the following?
