Please be more detailed in your error description, it's not clear to me what you actual problem is. What "default port" are you talking about? How exactly are your mail settings? What error messages does Bugzilla print, if any? Which error messages do you get elsewhere?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

RE: bugzilla email problem

Carruth, Rusty
I'm going to guess that he means port 25.

However, I'll also say that I'm mildly surprised that it is because 'google blocks port 25' (restating to say what I *think* it would say if he meant port 25).

Generally your ISP will block port 25, and require you to do something special to send mail yourself.  Or something.

So, your questions about mail settings are good, but I think we may need to know a little more than that.  I'd like to know:

Do you run an MTA (mail transport agent) inside your company? (assuming we're talking about a company network connected to the internet).
How is mail normally sent from inside to outside?
What sort of connection to the internet is there?
Who is the provider?
How is mail normally received?

The first one is perhaps the most important.  An answer of 'yes' would make it so that we don't need to know the answers to the other questions, because the fix is to send mail to your MTA for it to take care of.

The second one is the next-most important.  Duplicating the path other clients use to get email out may be the solution, assuming this isn't an Outlook-based setup.  If this is a windows-only shop, with no obvious MTA sitting around, what has to happen is for the (local) outlook server to allow port 25 connections from the bugzilla machine (and for it to not block sending from that machine!).

After that, it gets harder (depending upon how hard you consider Outlook-bases systems ;-)

Rusty
