brazilian portuguese localization

Fabrizio-20
Hello all,

I've just finished the brazilian portugues translation for Bugzilla
3.6.2.

The code is available at http://bugzilla-ptbr.sourceforge.net/

Regards,
Fabrizio

Congratulations, and thanks for the translation. I added your
contribution to
http://www.bugzilla.org/download/index.html#localizations. It will take
a few minutes till the addition is effective on the website.

Maybe just one suggestion: instead of pt-br.zip, you should name your
zipped file based on the Bugzilla version it contains, e.g.
bugzilla-3.6.2.pt_br.zip (or bugzilla-3.6.2.pt_br.tar.gz, to use the
same compression format as other contributors, i.e. gzip). Else users
will have no idea which file is for which version.

I believe i18n/l10n of Bugzilla needs to be handled better, e.g. all
strings should be in a file rather than within the code, to encourage
more contributors to translate

In the past, it was judged that the added convenience to translators of
this system was outweighed by the added complexity of the resulting
templates (they would be an enormous pile of directives) and
inconvenience for coders editing them.

Hello Frédéric,

thank you for adding to the list and for the opportunity - it was great learning how bugzilla works.

During the process I also had to change the following:
- Util.pm - changed lines 423 and 425 to change date/time format to dd/mm/yyyy
- Search.pm - line 118 commented because it generated an error after the change on util.pm

Do you want me to add these files to the brazilian distribution also? Or there is an easier way to change date/time format?

regards,
Fabrizio

this is a bug. Date and time formatting must happen in template files,
so that it is language dependent.
Please file a bug for this if there isn't one already.

Re: brazilian portuguese localization

Fabrizio-20
Hello all,
I'm still struggling to translate EVERYTHING. Web pages were
relatively easy comparing to e-mails, wich required a change in
BugMail.pm

Now I'm facing problems with CSV exports. The characters are not in
UTF-8 format. There seams to be a BUG filed for that, but with status
RESOLVED FIXED:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389517

Does anybody know if there is really a problem when exporting to CSV?
If so, is it the case to reopen this bug or to file a new one?

Thanks!

You shouldn't edit anything in BugMail.pm. You cannot include your own
BugMail.pm file in your pt-br tarball anyway. Note that this problem is
gone in Bugzilla 4.1.

> Does anybody know if there is really a problem when exporting to CSV?

I don't know which problem you are having exactly, but I see no problem
exporting data in CSV format in other languages. You can test yourself
on https://landfill.bugzilla.org/bugzilla_l10n/, which has 10 languages
installed.

And in no way you should reopen bug 389517. It's unrelated to your problem.

Re: brazilian portuguese localization

Fabrizio-20
Hello Frédéric,

thanks for the quick reply! Good to know that version 4.1 will simplify this issue.

Regard to the CSV export problem, I have tried with the online version and got same results. I tried using

https://landfill.bugzilla.org/bugzilla_l10n/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&order=Bug%20Number&short_desc=%C3%A7&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr

and then exporting to CSV. The first line looks like this:

2257,"critical","P2","All","abhramick","NEW","---","Nossa alteração"

where it probably should be

2257,"critical","P2","All","abhramick","NEW","---","Nossa alteração"

Thanks again
Fabrizio
