XForms trunk (Firefox 3) nightly builds available

Philipp Wagner-4
Hello,

it took us quite some time from the initial plan to the "final product",
but here they are:

Nightly snapshot builds for Mozilla XForms for Firefox 3, available at
http://philipp.wagner.name/mozilla-xforms/

We're still working on getting the build infrastructure running in a
more stable way and fixing some problems, but you can expect builds for
Win32 and Linux (x86 and x86_64), updated around midnight CET. They are
merged together to one single XPI, so choosing the right XPI file is not
necessary any more ;)

As soon as bug #437483 goes in, we'll be able to give you a hint during
installation of the XPI if it will work on your platform. One ugly thing
remains though, we have to "create" the build id (which is displayed in
the Addons Manager) in our build script using sed ;) So XForms
developers, please have a look at bug #437491 on ideas how this can be
fixed.

Just to confirm: this isn't expected to work with Firefox 3 RC2 because
it's missing something and we need to get, say
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2008-06-06-04-moz
illa1.9.0/ to run with the buold that's on your site today?

Leigh.

exactly, I don't know how much the changes on Gecko/Firefox and XForms
depend on each other, but I just tried the current nightly build you
mentioned and our XForms extension and that combination works.

There is some dependency, but I sure would have thought that by the time
Mozilla got to RC2 that things wouldn't be changing enough to cause
problems.  I guess that I'm still too optimistic :-)
