Trying to build FF on Windows

Petar Popara

I'm trying to build FF on WinXP for the first time. I have downloaded
sources and run from CMD line:

nmake -f client.mk

and got this error:

client.mk(77) : fatal error U1033: syntax error : '=' unexpected
Stop.

What should I do? :( I'm using VC 7.1 (2003).

The build instructions are very clear, you cannot use nmake, you must use
GNU make.

Yes, I saw that, but I was very confused with fact that msvc (VC++) compiler
was supported. Is it supported or not?

It is supported, but you have to use GNU make.

I think, the best way is ->http://gemal.dk/mozilla/build.html

Not if you want to use MSVC. I wish people improved the documentation on
developer.mozilla.org instead of writing new docs from scratch (although
devmo was not existant when Henrik Gemal wrote that page).
