Thunderbird 38.6.0: New Problem Loading...!

Martin Rosenfeld-2
TB 38.6.0 and FF 36.8.0 were running nicely in eCS2.2b2 until I used
ANPM to update everything. Now either program will load and run by
itself, but TB will not load (no error message) if FF is already running
or in the process of loading. Once TB has failed to load I must reboot
to get it to load. Resetting the workplace shell is not enough. Is this
a known problem? Is updating everything with ANPM a dangerous move at
this stage of development of our Mozilla programs?

Both TB and FF are run via RUN! with !L.

I am running exactly those versions of FF and TB and I am also using
ANPM and everything is working just fine and I don't experience the
problems you are describing.
However you should consider using run!.exe and have it use LIBPATHSTRICT
(read run!.exe help output) for both, FF and TB.

How are you starting the programs? If TB is loaded first, does FF load?

No.

It shouldn't be. Unluckily bugs do creep in and with our limited number
of developers it is hard to test all cases.
Hopefully upgrading to TB38.8.0 (and FF38.8.0) will fix this issue.

Thunderbird!L.exe and Firefox!L.exe> I click on their widgets in xCenter
bar. FF will load after TB.

Keep only these DLLs in the corresponding dirs:
Firefox dir:

26.05.16   5.09         700.198      0  mozsqlt3.dll
26.05.16   5.17      37.176.489      0  xul.dll

Thunderbird:
28.02.16   1.14         146.244      0  ldap60.dll
28.02.16   1.14          14.120      0  ldif60.dll
27.02.16  22.19          73.693      0  mozalloc.dll
27.02.16  22.20         654.196      0  mozsqlt3.dll

28.02.16   0.52      37.568.009      0  xul.dll

All other DLLs needed should be located in \usr\lib. If not you will
need to install additional packages via ANPM.

Are you running FF38.6.0 or FF38.8.0? There was a test version of
FF38.6.0 floating around which Martin installed

Strange. You can add a G to your run command, eg Thunderbird!LG.exe and
see if Thunderbird.log shows anything interesting. Otherwise I guess you
could use Theseus (see discussion with Lars) to see what is left open

I followed your suggestions and now FF and TB will load in either order
or almost simultaneously.
