SVG image doesn't appear despite type="image/svg+xml"

run2bmi21
Hi.

I was very excited to get the news that Firefox 1.5 was available and
that it supported SVG 1.1.  I downloaded and installed it, but, when I
try to open a page (on my laptop) whose source looks like this (see the
<embed tag and its type attribute.  They're correct, right?)...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//CL//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional plus
Embed//EN"
 "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/xhtml1-transitional-plus-embed.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
  <head>
    <title>
      Directed Graph
    </title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <a id="top"></a>
    <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="500"
height="500">
      <tr>
        <td>
          <embed class="embed" name="digraph" type="image/svg+xml"
          src="digraph.svg" width="500" height="500" />
        </td>
      </tr>
    </table>
  </body>
</html>

that references an .svg file that begins...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 1000 1000"
zoomAndPan="enable"
  xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
  xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"
  xmlns:ev="http://www.w3.org/2001/xml-events"
  version="1.1"
  baseProfile="full">

I get the pop-up from Firefox that says...

You have chosen to open digraph.svg which is a: SVG Document from: C\My
Documents\My Web Pages   What should Firefox do with this file?

This can't be right, correct?  What am I doing wrong.  Something very
basic I suspect.

I did verify that in "about:config", the svg-enabled boolean is set to
its default of "true".

Thanks.

Re: SVG image doesn't appear despite type="image/svg+xml"

Hi,

This sounds like the MIME type for SVG is incorrect on your local machine. See

   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=303581

for more info on the problem and how to fix it.
