RE: support-bugzilla Digest, Vol 160, Issue 18

Yihui Hu (胡一辉)-2
Thanks a lot

I get the bug list , and they have different assignee or reporter, and I want to send bug's reporter or assignee email by whine.
But the recipients(Mail to) in whine need to be a specific user or group, cannot be a pronouns refer to bug's reporter with different bug.
Just you have said: Using "%recipient%" in "Mail to:" is not supported as pronouns are only valid in searches.

So I have to let everyone to set their whine.
I cannot create a whine to send email to every bug's reporter in the bug list for them.

that topic should be covered by the docs:

Hi:

I want to send email to bug's reporter or assignee everyday So I create a query and use it in whine But seems it can not set to bug's reporter or assignee just like pronouns in search filter, for example %reporter%?, ?%assignee%? etc.
Is there any way to do it?

Thanks a lot

Please be more specific about the actual search, which recipients you configured where, which users are a member of bz_canusewhines and bz_canusewhineatothers etc.

From my understanding, you need to know the users to whine at beforehand, configure those in "Mail to:" and use "%user%" in your search to restrict fields "reporter" or "assignee" to the user for which the current whine gets executed. Using "%recipient%" in "Mail to:" is not supported as pronouns are only valid in searches.

https://bugzilla.readthedocs.io/en/5.0/administering/whining.html#whining-schedule

Because of the first you can restrict "assigne" to "%user%" and because of supporting groups for "Mail to:" you are able to configure an arbitrary number of recipients using regular expressions or such, like is support for group members.

To configure all this yourself you need to be a member of bz_canusewhines and bz_canusewhineatothers, but am not sure if recipients need to be a member of bz_canusewhines as well. I think they don't.
