PAC ignored in FF 1.5 Deer Park

Lea Gris-2
Hello,

I use a PAC (Proxy Auto Configuraion) javascript file. It worked fine in
Firefox 1.0.7 but seems ignored by Firefox 1.5.

Are there any documented API changes for PAC in Deer Park Firefox 1.5 ?

// proxy.js (PAC)
// refs:
http://wp.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/2.0/relnotes/demo/proxy-live.html
// Worked in FF 1.0.7
// Does not work in FF 1.5 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US;
rv:1.8) Gecko/20051221
// user_pref("network.proxy.autoconfig_url", "file:///home/user/proxy.js");

function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    {
        if ( dnsDomainIs(host, ".some.host.net") ||
             dnsDomainIs(host, "domain.net") ||
             localHostOrDomainIs(host,"host.domain.net") ||
             // admin des cwdm
             isInNet(host, "192.168.1.0", "255.255.255.0")
            )
            return "PROXY 127.0.0.1:3128";
        else
            return "DIRECT";
    }

Bug found in my javascript. Not the one cited in the previous post but
the one I actualy used.

Installing the javascript console allowed me to track the bug.

If you encounter troubles with proxy.pac not working, there is no
notificaitons in case of javascript errors, unless you have the
javascript console installed and enabled.

Hope this will get archived and of some help.

I had a similar problem with no-ads.pac and every release since 1.8a,
inclusive. Using the self same file versions before that would work
fine, after that not at all. I found it does work for SeaMonkey 1.0b
if I install it from a zip, but not from the installer. Others
reported no problem either way. I have no idea why.

I filed a bug for it:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319057

Perhaps it should be expanded to cover other gecko browsers.
