Java plugin

James Moe
Hello,
  Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060212
SeaMonkey/1.0
  Java 1.4.2._05 Innotek
  ipluginw20050915.xpi

For both ff v1.5.0.1 (or pm-fx) and sm v1.0 the Java plugin no longer
works. I am not sure when (i.e., which version) it stopped working. It
seems that ffv1.5.0 was okay. I thought SM was okay as well but no longer.
Is there a way to resurrect Java?

Good question - which prompted me to check whether the java plugin is
working here with SM.

I tried  http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

Last time I tested there all was OK - weeks ago.

This time I do not even get the little box at all - not even to indicate
whether I need to install a java plugin just... nothing.

Scrolling the page indicates there should be something there as text
seems to get "trapped" by the area where the test box should be...

Either the Sun test page is not working or the java plugin is not
working here.

Having noticed a "demo" subdirectory containing a directory "applets" in
the java142_05 sdk directory tree on my system I find that I can load
applets into SM so I guess the Sun test page has an error...

Which does not help with your problem - unless you are using the same
Sun test page to check your installation.

To "resurrect" java check that the required plugins are in the correct
directory and that SM knows where to find them.

Also make sure that you have the current libc6 package
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.1-csd1.zip
and ipluginw.dll
http://download.innotek.de/javaos2/mozilla/ipluginw20050915.xpi

Not sure what else to suggest except maybe a look through this page if
the above does not help
http://www.os2bbs.com/os2news/Warpzilla.html

Regards

Pete

Same response here. The window where the dancing penguin should be never
repaints. It retains whatever image was overlaying it

Working fine here. Both Seamonkey and Deer Park Alpha 2 built about the
middle of march. Older 1.42_02 innotek java, newest ipluginw.dll. Though
I do notice the rectangle is too thin.
Dave
ps I also tried when the thread first started, worked fine then too

As others have noted, the applet area is a bit on the thin side now.

That doesn't load correctly here for some reason but:
http://javatester.org/version.html
shows java plugin is working.

Well that confirms what the applets in the java142 directory tree were
telling me: the java plugin works but the Sun test page does not.

Cheers

Still dead here.  I am using the last Innotek java released and the
fixed iplugunw.dll from sept. 2005. Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5;
en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060307 SeaMonkey/1.1a.  I just tried Mozilla
1.7.12 and Java is still dead.  Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US;
rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050922.  Wonder what killed it as it worked before?

Perhaps try the ipluginw.dll from Nov? Same location
http://download.innotek.de/javaos2/mozilla/ipluginw20050915.xpi but now
contains
60936  Defl:N   49818  18%  11-04-05  05:22  997554a9
components/ipluginw.dll

One other observation on this. Going to
<http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp> guarantees that FF or SM
will crash the next time a new URL is opened. Very repeatable.

Dances fine

 Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060202
SeaMonkey/1.0

Current versions of oji plugin DLLs etc.

The only thing special is

[j:\tmp]java -version
java version "1.4.2_10"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_10-b03) Java
HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_05-b04, mixed mode)

I have taken the liberty of updating the Java runtime to 1.4.2_10-b03.

Steven

Not here.

Have you done the drill?

 - shutdown all browsers
 - delete xul.mfl
 - delete compreg.dat

Can you open the Java Control Panel?  That's step 1 of verifying the Java
plugin install.

Steven
