Is there something wrong at googlegroups?

Peter Potamus the Purple Hippo
Is there something wrong at googlegroups?

I'm looking at:
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.seamonkey/topics
and it shows topics up to April 3rd.

I'm looking at this:
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.seamonkey/about
and it shows only 16 posts made to the SM group in April.
I'm sorry, but there have been way over 300 messages in that
group as of this date, so far.

Thanks

Grant McP

if things are working, then it should open up in the browser.

Anyways, try the messageID finder:

Try copying without the   < >  on the ends and
pasting it into your browser  as a url,  it should
bring up your email program with that post shown
in Thunderbird (your email/newsreader)..

what it actually says is:
"Archiving of this newsgroup and three others is currently broken, as a
result of some experimenting on preventing spam."    // Chris  Ilias

No, it shouldn't.  Its schema is "news".  It should open in a news
client, if anywhere.

excuse me, but mine opened within the browser.  Thats why I
said what I did.

As test, I tried it in Thunderbird.  I got a popup asking
what I should do, and it suggested opening it in SeaMonkey
[default].  I said yes, and it opened within the browser.

Another test: in Thunderbird:  I changed SM to Firefox, and
it, too opened in that without problems

Another Test: in Thunderbird: I changed it from SM/FF to
open in TB.  It wouldn't.

Another Test: in TB:  I changed to it IE, Safari, Opera, and
the message all opened within those program.

end of testing.

That's a bug in SeaMonkey.

Beats me why.  Whatever.  I'm not big on these swiss-army-knife suites.

yes, I did use SeaMonkey, but if you read what I wrote, I
get the same results with Thunderbird.  It opens in a
browser of my choosing. Ergo, TB is not a suite program as
SM is.

That being said, if I used the MessageID Finder, then it
does open within the same message.

Wait.  On rereading what you describe, it appears that it TB doesn't
know what to do with it, asks you, and then you direct it to those
browsers.  Right?

correct, and in one test, I tried having TB open it, and it
wouldn't.

Well, that explains things.  I said it's not supposed open a browser.
You said it did.  Now it turns out that it only does that when you
*tell* it to.  So, again: it's not supposed to to that with the news
schema.  That you can *make* it do so manually does not invalidate that
statement.

Peter's using SeaMonkey, so it'll use itself rather than calling the
system's newsreader.  Why it opens in the browser part of SM for him
rather than mail/news, I dunno.

if everyone read what I said, then you'd see that I tried it
in TB and the same thing occurs:

I click on the link within TB, and I get a popup saying that
the message is an HTML document, then it asks me what TB
should do with the file.  I select Open with and I select
TB, and it does nothing.
