How to create a Thunderbird language pack

Eduardo Trápani
Hello,

Can anybody point me to documentation explaining how to build a
Thunderbird language pack?

I cannot find it and we'd like to have it to check the localization
we've just started.

Thanks, Eduardo.

Hi Eduardo,

I think the simplest way is to use an existing language pack in another
language. You could use for instance the es-ES or es-AR language pack:

http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/52.0/win32/xpi/es-ES.xpi

http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/52.0/win32/xpi/es-AR.xpi

Michael

Hi,

it's similar to the creation of a language pack for Firefox:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Creating_a_Language_Pack

Differences:
- run ./mozilla/mach instead of ./mach
- go into <object directory>/mail/locales instead of <object
directory>/browser/locales

Bye
Sebastian

We haven't updated the documentation on
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Creating_a_language_pack
for a while, but that's still the gist of it. You need to set up a
comm-central repo for that, though.

I wonder if you could lure Matjaz into adding something to
https://github.com/mozilla-l10n/firefox-nightly-langpacks or to create a
sibling of it.

Also, we're talking in
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1358824 about making the
l10n build in general less cumbersome, this should have positive
fall-out for use-cases like "I'd like to test a langpack", too.
