Re: [Fwd: ibm and bugzilla]

David Reid
Yes, I tried running the Perl code and it continues to fail with the error
message as below in this email:
   "...Can't locate auto/DBI/new.al in @INC..."

My localconfig has user 'bugs' and the proper password. When logging in
with:
   mysql -u bugs -p
I am prompted for the password and then logs in.  There is no 'bugs'
database to attach to though because checkconfig.pl errors on the template
portion and doesn't create the 'bugs' database.

I doubt there are multiple copies of either because before installing either
Perl 5.8 or mySQL 4.1.12, I performed a 'find * / | grep -i [perl/mysql]'
and removed all occurences so that the install would be clean.

Did you try running the Perl code I sent you that would connect to
MySQL?

Also, in your localconfig, what user are you using?  Does that user have
access to MySQL?  Is it possible that you have two copies of MySQL or
Perl installed on your system?

In reply to this post by David Reid
would anyone mind if I took this off list?

okay it is probably that RHEL cannot handle perl mixed with mysql 4, I
have a set of compat rpms/srpms to fix that that we use here.

but before, just want to check the RPMs first

# rpm -qa | grep -iE 'mysql|perl' | xargs rpm -V

can we take MySQL down for 5 minutes, if needed?

RPM output in attached file.

Yes, we can take MySQL down (not a production box).

would anyone mind if I took this off list?

okay it is probably that RHEL cannot handle perl mixed with mysql 4, I
have a set of compat rpms/srpms to fix that that we use here.

but before, just want to check the RPMs first

# rpm -qa | grep -iE 'mysql|perl' | xargs rpm -V

can we take MySQL down for 5 minutes, if needed?
