Hi everyone -

Although currently (mostly[0] -- see the note at the end of this post) working, the ages-old [hidden email] alias is soon due for retirement.  I'm sending this post as a heads-up, and will also post again once I put in the formal request to IT to remove it (in a couple weeks or so).

Why, you rightfully ask?  Simply put, it's another layer of complexity on top of an already-complex-but-working system[1], and I'd like to simplify it as much as possible, while keeping the essentially working part intact.

What *will* change:
* once I file the bug and IT has removed [hidden email], posts to [hidden email] will bounce/fail to send/post.

What *won't* change:
* the currently working relay alias and automatic syncing between [hidden email] (which is really https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-quality and this Google Group/newsgroup list

Also, even though I've checked with a few key folks on various teams about this, please do scream if there's a technical/logistical reason that old alias should remain, and I'll look at it with you.

Cheers,

- Stephen (who has to field/administrate, and help investigate problems with mailing lists/aliases more often than he'd like) :-)

[0] I say "mostly" because there have been delays up to a few days in apparently delivering to/from the [hidden email] < - > [hidden email]/mozilla.dev.quality mailing list/Google Group automagic synch which is currently in place.
[1] If you're really curious about the partial history, see details in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=794762.  The tl;dr of how it works, today, is in the last comment: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=794762#c21

Hi all -

Next Monday, May 2nd, we'll be deleting the [hidden email] alias, as described below.

Just as a reminder, from then on, [hidden email] and this newsgroup/Google Group (mozilla.dev.quality) will continue to work and cross-post to each other.

Thanks,

- Stephen

Hi everyone -

Just an update, to confirm:

As of earlier today, the [hidden email] alias is no longer, and now bounces.

[hidden email] and this newsgroup/Google Group (mozilla.dev.quality) will continue posting to each other, as usual; thanks!

Cheers,

- Stephen
