Custom Fields, Longer Valid Expression - Bug id 91037

Dorian Woolger
Hi All,

I have implemented the custom fields patch as per
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91037 into Bugzilla 2.18.  I
have no problems except I want to be able to put more that 255 characters
into the Valid Expression field.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this?

So far in my attempt I have changed the editcustomfileds.html.tmpl file so
that the field on the form will take more that 255 chars. but although you
can now type more than 255, the commit button stops working as soon as you
do.

Hope someone can help.

Regards

Dorian Woolger.

Hi,

I never used the patch myself, but it looks like you have to chang ethe
database column of type from TINYTEXT to TEXT or MEDIUMTEXT.  See
http://www.ispirer.com/doc/sqlways38/Output/SQLWays-1-196.html

If the patch creates tables automatically, you may need to edit the create
statement in the patch file(s).  Otherwise, once the tables have been
created and are in the database, just use the ALTER SQL command to change
the type of column that stores the data from TINYTEXT to whatever.

ex.  ALTER TABLE t1 MODIFY b MIDIUMTEXT NOT NULL;
