Building FireFox - Win32

StuartX
Hi,

Newbie here and I've got a small problem. I've followed the
instructions from Mozilla.org, installed all the pre-requirements,
created a config (.mozconfig) file etc... and fired up the build
process. It gets really far in the build and then fails. It procudes
the follow error:

make[4]: Entering directory
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/obj-i686-pc-cygwin/xpfe/components'
make[4]: *** No rule to make target
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/xpfe/components/extensions/Makefile.in',
needed by `extensions/Makefile'.  Stop.
make[4]: Leaving directory
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/obj-i686-pc-cygwin/xpfe/components'
make[3]: *** [export] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/obj-i686-pc-cygwin/xpfe'
make[2]: *** [export] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/obj-i686-pc-cygwin'
make[1]: *** [alldep] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory
`/cygdrive/d/dump/mozilla/obj-i686-pc-cygwin'
make: *** [alldep] Error 2

Here's my config settings (just in case):

# sh
# Build configuration script
#
# See http://www.mozilla.org/build/unix.html for build instructions.
#

# Options for client.mk.
mk_add_options MOZ_CO_PROJECT=browser
mk_add_options MOZ_OBJDIR=@TOPSRCDIR@/obj-@CONFIG_GUESS@

# Options for 'configure' (same as command-line options).
ac_add_options --enable-application=browser

I'm using MS Windows 2000, and VC++ 6.0.

Any ideas? TIA,

Stuart

In reply to this post by StuartX
It was suggested in another thread that I not use gemal.dk if building with VC6, but instead to use http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Build_Documentation? . I havent tried it yet, but if you're able to build mozilla on Win32 with VC6 & it creates .libs for you ( as opposed to .as for me), please post what you did !! :)

You don't ned to set CC, CXX, etc for MSVC.

May I ask why you were looking at gemal.dk instead of
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Build_Documentation?

An empty file will work, for MSVC on 1.7.x.

Whatever you prefer, just make sure that $PATH is set up correctly.

Use "make -f client.mk build"; that will only compile, not update the
sources.
