Bugzilla Question

Eyall Maresky
Hi,

I work in a small comapny of less than 30 engineers.
We have a database SQL Server where all our clients details are saved on
this server.
We would like to know, before deciding to install bugzilla:

1. Every time I open a ticket using Bugzilla, this bug is associated to a
specific client. Is there a way that once I select the client unique id,
that other fileds in the Bugzilla are automatically filled (client name,
address and so on...) either connecting directly to the sql server via the
bugzilla or connecting to any other sort of database.

2. I understand that it not recommended to install the bugzilla on Microsoft
windows, but I have a windows server, which is available, is it possible to
install on windows server? did anyone use Bugzilla on windows server?

3. Is Bugzilla only a defect tracking, or also Test Plan repository, Test
Design repository, Lab to execute tests scenario, documentation and
automatic management as well?

4. Can I add steps to the bug cycle status predefined steps? (for instance
before changing bug's status to fixed, I must first change it to commit
(saved the code modification to the R&D server and only then fixed)

5. Are there available desktop software to use? can I use API to write my
own desktop?

6. Are there statistics, graphs that Bugzilla creates to display to
mangarial?

7. Regarding the lab testing (performing the tests according to the
regression tests in the Lab) is there a way to track the progress of the
regression test? (number of test cases perfomed devided by total number of
test cases to perform)

I would appreciate your answers to my question.

Thx,
Eyall

You can probably add either an extension or write a scheduled task that merges the data.

Plenty of people do, and if you have any trouble there are folks here that can help.  Just not me.

There is another product called Testopia that adds test functionality to Bugzilla.  Bugzilla by itself is Defect Tracking only.

Yes, Bugzilla has a customizable workflow.

Yes, there is an API interface called WebService

Yes.

I'm not familiar with Testopia.

Most of this should be in the Documentation.  Check out http://bugzilla.org/docs/
