AutoComplete logic?

Lewis Rosenthal
Hmmm...

Bug # 67055 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67055) seems
to indicate that the logic applied to autocomplete is most frequently
used addresses first. In fact, I thought this was working for me in this
fashion, until the latest SM nightly. now, I;m not sure (unless it was a
one-time thing).

Typically, I enter "cr" to get an autocompletion of my brother's
address: craigrosenthal@... (we're on the same domain; more on this
later). However, upon upgrading to the latest SM nightly (Mozilla/5.0
(OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051014 MultiZilla/1.8.1.0p
SeaMonkey/1.1a), typing "cr" got me to: ken.crooks@... (different
domain). A subsequent new message to my brother worked fine, but has
left me wondering whether this may recur (I know, I know: wait for it to
recur, and then start hunting...)

There is also a pref called mail.identity.default.autocompleteToMyDomain
which defaults to false. I haven't found any documentation on it, but I
would assume this means that the sort order for autocomplete begins with
members of my domain. Is this correct? At least this would work around
what I saw (am seeing?).

TIA

Before bug 67055 autocomplete results were actually displayed in (I
believe) creation order of the address book card. Now autocomplete
results are in order of the number of emails sent since bug 67055.

No, that preference triggers the "this is a new employee in my company"
guess. In fact I'm sure I saw a per-identity setting for it in account
settings somewhere.

Thanks for the insight, Neil. Apparently, this behavior I observed was
anomalous, as I have yet to see it even a second time. So, with more
important fish...er...bugs to fry, I'm just going to move on to other
issues.

That does make more sense, given the name of the pref.

Again, your reply was greatly appreciated.
